The Sacramento Animal Shelter has great tips for helping out if you've lost a pet or have found a stray animal in the Sacramento area.
Since opening our doors, Titanic's Pantry has helped thousands of families in Sacramento. Without this extra help, many more pets may have been surrendered to shelters.
Titanic's Pantry (also known as the Sacramento Pet Food Bank) was launched in November 2009, when local shelters were seeing more and more people surrendering their beloved family pets because they could not afford to feed them.

Sacramento Independent Animal Rescuers is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Our purpose is to aid stray, abandoned, and neglected animals. In addition to animals rescued and adopted by our organization, SIAR is also dedicated to help other independent animal rescuers find their foster animals the loving homes they deserve. To date, over 1100 dogs and cats have been rescued and placed into wonderful homes in the past few years. In order to provide these services, we work with the community shelters, rescue organizations, and individuals who have animals with special needs and place these animals in permanent homes after they reach a stage of wellness.
Our mission is to provide loving, permanent homes for animals that have been abused, abandoned, or lost, which otherwise would not be with us today. Many of our rescued animals, especially those that were rescued from the shelters initially had kennel cough, pneumonia, or giardia with the extreme cases having the parvo or distemper viruses. In addition, a high percentage of animals are malnourished and require special dietary demands. We rely on tax deductible cash donations as well as food and other pet supplies that will allow us to continue to save lives!“We are happy to announce the Sacramento SPCA’s participation in the Bissell Pet Foundation “Empty the Shelters” Free Adoption Event on March 18, 2017.
