Use the same procedure as for cleaning carpets to get rid of cat urine odors in upholstery and mattresses.
Hoping someone here can help before my husband gets rid of the cat. One of my senior male cats has decided to pee and spray several areas of our newly built house. I have taken it to the vet, tried the plug in diffuser, he wears a calming collar, added a litter box, used the special litter that attracts them to the litter box, used the relaxation spray and yet he continues. A portion of the wall was so bad that my husband had to remove a large portion of sheetrock, the baseboard as well as the insulation. Since it was in the corner, the urine also saturated where the carpet pet stain pad was not present. I lifted up the carpet and saturated the area (carpet, pad and underneath wood with Nature's Miracle. I then used a peroxide, vinegar solution. The odor still lingers. The blacklight is not picking up any missed urine. I'm afraid that the urine saturated the wooden support beams. Any ideas on how to get rid of the odor and stop the cat from future costly and time consuming mishaps?
THIS WORKS. I installed new carpet, went on vacation. While away, a stray cat sprayed my front door. My old cat sprayed 10 spots! Big ones. It was dry when we got home, and the sitter did not see it. Awful smell. Despite all the negative comments stating you have to remove installed, padded carpet, not true, even dried urine. This cost me $50,far less than the $2k my carpet cost. It has worked for me . I purchased a kit called "Stink Free" from Amazon, it has a black light to detect the spots, and a bottle of bio-enzyme product that breaks down the crystals and neutralizes the odor. #1. If you find a dry spot, use this product first. Just follow directions, money back guarantee I THINK. #2. Spray area with a product called "Rocco & Roxie Professional Strength Stain and odor Eliminator", also available on Amazon. This is also bio-enzymatic. IT IS CERTIFIED by Carpet and Rug Institute (it did lighten my beige carpet slightly, but only I seem to notice it, so spot test). Follow directions. After this regime, I can not smell the urine at all. For solid, dried poo, on area rugs without padding, I pick it up, put an entire box of baking soda one it for a day and then vacuum and follow with Folex, the best carpet cleaner ever. Good luck. If you find wet urine, Ipour water on it, soak up with big towel, and start this regimine- it is awful, but my old cat has given me so many good years and he has an accident once every few months. Most importantly make sure your pet is not sick, and sometimes if spraying is a chronic problem, a cat pheromone that mimics the smell of a mother cat works to calm your cat.

How to remove cat urine from carpet
Q:I am trying to sell my home and I can't get rid of urine smell in carpets. Sick and old cat messes were cleaned up immediately but still the scent lingers and has now intensified with the hot and humid weather! Any suggestions? I have tried most of the pump sprays on the market!I never write testimonials but this truly deserves it. Last attempt before consigning the nearly new pillow topped mattress to the bin. Worked really really well, so pleased, can't thank you enough. I had 2 dinner plate sized cat pee stains to remove that had soaked in and been treated with a commercial enzyme urine remover ( smelt terrible and didn't work). I used 100ml white vinegar and 100ml water mixed on each stain, then 1/4 cup peroxide mixed 1tsp washing up liquid on each stain, and a whole box 250g of bicarbonate of soda between the 2 stains. Mattress is super clean now and no pee odour! Topped it off this morning now it's dry with a very light spray of fabreeze (didn't need this but I like the clean linen smell). Brilliant recipe thank you so much for sharing!
